HE 69 -kV transmission line rebuild project - Great River Energy

HE 69 -kV transmission line rebuild project

Great River Energy, wholesale electric supplier to Kandiyohi Power Cooperative, will be rebuilding 7.2 miles of the overhead “HE” 69-kV (69,000 volt) transmission line. Replacement of this transmission line is a priority due to age and condition, originally built in 1948. The rebuild will implement modern construction, engineering and design standards leading to improved electric reliability for the area. There will be construction challenges to navigate which include limited access,  large elevation changes, wetlands and a river crossing.

Great River Energy will use its existing easement rights to rebuild the transmission line. Additional easement rights or clarification of rights may be required. These landowners will be contacted to review the easement requirements.

Poles will generally be 70 to 80 feet above ground, 350 to 400 feet apart. Directional changes or angles will require guy wires and anchors.
