The Kandiyohi Power Cooperative (KPC) board of directors recently appointed Ryan Nelson as the co-op’s new chief executive officer, effective April 16.
Nelson, who previously held the positions of acting general manager and manager of engineering and operations, brings 18 years of industry experience to his new role.
“During this time of transformation, Ryan is the right leader for Kandiyohi Power Cooperative.” said Dale Anderson, KPC’s chairman of the board. “Ryan is a proven leader with an operation and engineering background, business vision and the ability to bring people together. We believe his strong leadership and thoughtful approach are just what our member-owners and employees expect and deserve.”
Nelson attended Minnesota State University-Moorhead and North Dakota State University before taking a job with Star Energy Services, an engineering firm owned by four cooperatives in central Minnesota, in 2004. Meeker Cooperative Light and Power then hired Nelson in 2012 as a design engineer where he worked until KPC hired him in 2016.
