Great River Energy recently made a public filing detailing the latest information about the cooperative’s power supply plans.
The interim update was a requirement of Great River Energy from the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) earlier this year. At that time, the PUC approved a one-year extension for the cooperative’s next full integrated resource plan (IRP).
The PUC requested specific updates in the report, notably a detailed summary of efforts to gather input from externals stakeholders with an interest in Great River Energy’s power supply plan.
“The PUC challenged us to step up our stakeholder outreach and we have taken that to heart,” said Great River Energy Resource Planning Director Zac Ruzycki. “Our power supply team has traveled the state to meet with member-owners, environmental groups and labor organizations to make sure our plans reflect the variety of perspectives for our power supply portfolio.”
Great River Energy hosted three information sessions with member-owners in August, as well as a half-day stakeholder engagement meeting at Cambridge Station. The Cambridge event included a plant tour, presentation by Form Energy and discussion facilitated by the Great Plains Institute.
The PUC-ordered interim update is available at greatriverenergy.com. Great River Energy’s next full IRP will be filed with the PUC on April 1, 2023.
