Cooperatives like Great River Energy and its member-owners are unique. They operate at cost, only collecting enough revenue to serve their members and meet their financial obligations.
They are also governed by boards of directors elected by, and from, the membership. The Great River Energy board of directors welcomed its newest member in January when Erick Heinz was seated as a director.
Heinz has been a member of Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association for 37 years. He has served on the Wright-Hennepin board for 24 years and currently serves as board chair.
Heinz is a self-employed business owner, raising cattle and crops for over four decades, and is a Credentialed Cooperative Director.
