Great River Energy Senior Support Analyst Nate Lantaigne-Goetsch was recently named the Help Desk Institute (HDI) Minnesota Customer Service and Support Technician of the Year. That state award was followed by a district-wide award, which earned him a seat in the finals.
Lantaigne-Goetsch cashed in at the HDI SupportWorld Live conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, when he was selected as the HDI Service & Support World National Service Desk Technician of the Year. It is a recognition no one at Great River Energy has received before.

“I am very thankful for being recognized by my peers for this award, and it shows that the work we are providing for employees and our member-owner cooperatives is meaningful,” Lantaigne-Goetsch said.
Great River Energy’s service desk team nominated Lantaigne-Goetsch for the award and he was interviewed by HDI local board members. They asked about his approach to customer service and handling higher-level technical challenges.
“Without the support from everyone at the service desk and in the IT division, this award would not have been possible,” Lantaigne-Goetsch said. “At the end of the day, we are all just trying to do a job to ensure that the electric grid remains operational and reliable. This includes all the technology our staff are leveraging.”
Desiree van Sytzama, manager of IT support services at Great River Energy, praised Lantaigne-Goetsch for his work at the cooperative.
“He has such a passion for what he does and how he provides the highest level of customer support to our employees that I am not surprised that he won this great honor,” she said.
While the honor puts a national spotlight on Lantaigne‑Goetsch’s work, he is quick to point out that it aligns with the mission of the entire service desk team: Making sure employees have the tools, support and confidence they need to do their jobs well every day.
