Great River Energy is set to host a series of town hall meetings across Minnesota this January, inviting members and the public to learn about and provide input on its upcoming integrated resource plan (IRP). The IRP serves as a comprehensive roadmap for how the cooperative will meet future energy needs reliably, affordably and sustainably while supporting Minnesota’s clean energy goals.
The town halls reflect Great River Energy’s ongoing commitment to transparency and collaboration. By holding events in Maple Grove, Mankato and Grand Rapids, the cooperative hopes to maximize participation and ensure that voices from diverse communities are heard.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about resource planning strategies, including renewable energy integration, carbon reduction targets and investments in grid reliability.
The meetings will be held:
- 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Great River Energy’s Maple Grove office, 12300 Elm Creek Blvd. N, Maple Grove.
- 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, 1900 Premier Drive, Mankato.
- 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Timberlake Lodge, 144 17th St. SE, Grand Rapids.
“We’re committed to listening to our members and stakeholders, and these town halls are a valuable opportunity to gather input that will help shape our strategy for meeting Minnesota’s energy goals,” said Kyle Leier, manager of resource strategy and development at Great River Energy.
Each meeting will feature a presentation from Great River Energy’s resource planning team, followed by an open house format where attendees can ask questions and provide feedback. Topics will include energy affordability, reliability, environmental stewardship, and how Great River Energy plans to meet Minnesota’s carbon reduction goals.
