Great River Energy has donated a fire hose test station to the Trimont Fire Department, which is the department that would provide emergency services for Great River Energy’s Lakefield Junction Station in the event of a fire or site emergency. The test station is used to test fire hoses to ensure they are achieving optimal flow and pressure.
The Trimont Fire Department was invited to Lakefield Junction Station in 2023 for a safety review of plant equipment. During this visit, the need for a fire hose test station was identified that could benefit both Lakefield Junction Station and the Trimont Fire Department. Great River Energy donated this test station to the department on April 10 with the plans for an annual site visit that would include pressure test certification of the fire department’s hoses. This annual testing will identify any deficiencies with fire hoses, which will prevent failure while they are being used.
“As a community member and a partner with the city of Trimont, Great River Energy is pleased to donate this fire hose test station, which will ensure hoses are in proper working order to be able to safely provide fire protection for area residents,” said Great River Energy’s Mike Herman, supervising manager, Minnesota generation.
