Youth clinics kick off for the season

A partnership between Great River Energy, the Minnesota Twins and the Twins Community Fund is bringing free youth baseball and softball clinics across the state this summer.

Created in 1961 by longtime Twins scout Angelo Giuliana, the Play Ball! Minnesota youth clinics offer an opportunity for participants ages 6-13 to pitch and hit in their own neighborhoods with guidance from knowledgeable coaches. No experience with the sport is required to participate.

The baseball and softball clinics are scheduled to be held throughout Twins Territory, which overlaps with the service areas of Great River Energy’s 27 member-owner cooperatives — seven of which will play the role of host in their communities:

Beyond providing members with affordable and reliable electricity, electric cooperatives work toward the sustainable development of their communities. This includes volunteering time and resources; donating funds to local nonprofits; and supporting events like the Play Ball! clinics that bring communities together.

“Great River Energy and our members take pride in our ability to help bring these fun, accessible and free events to kids all over the state,” said Andrea Lee, senior communications specialist at Great River Energy.
