More than 450 bicyclists participated in this year’s annual Great River Energy Mesabi Trail Tour event, which started and ended in Ely, Minnesota.
Participants chose between riding on three different routes of 12, 30 or 50 miles along what is considered one of Minnesota’s premier paved bicycle trails. While pedaling, bicyclists encountered historic and scenic points of interest; enjoyed food and music at rest stops; and arrived at a finish line celebration complete with a meal and more music.
The Great River Energy Mesabi Trail Tour is a fundraiser for the Mesabi Trail and Club Mesabi. The cooperative has supported this event through a title sponsorship for more than 15 years as part of its commitment to building strong relationships with the communities served by its 27 member-owner cooperatives. The Mesabi Trail Tour is one example of the cooperative investing in vibrant and connected communities in ways beyond providing electric service.
