In the heart of the holiday season, Great River Energy demonstrated its commitment to community by stepping up to support Minnesota families facing food insecurity.
Ahead of Thanksgiving, the cooperative donated 160 turkeys — nearly 2 tons — to food charities across North Dakota and Minnesota.
That spirit of generosity continued at the board level where, during a recent meeting, Great River Energy directors unanimously approved a $250,000 contribution to food pantries serving the communities of member‑owner cooperatives. The decision was driven by directors who have seen firsthand the heightened need for basic services, especially during the holiday season.
“Moments like these remind me that cooperatives — and this membership specifically — are truly extraordinary,” said Great River Energy President and Chief Executive Officer David Saggau. “I am proud to be part of an association that looks out for the wellbeing of the people we serve in ways that extend well beyond providing electricity.”
