An annual program that brings a hands-on Minnesota Twins experience to youth in every corner of the state begins again this May through a partnership between Great River Energy and the Twins Community Fund.

For more than 60 years, the Play Ball! Minnesota Youth Clinics have provided a free opportunity for participants from ages 6 to 12 to hit, throw and field with guidance from skilled and knowledgeable coaches in an encouraging environment.
The clinics were created in 1961 by longtime Twins scout Angelo Guiliana and designed to be accessible, meaning that no experience with baseball or softball is required to participate. Kids only need to bring with them a glove, water bottle and interest in learning to their local event.
Program facilitators hit the road each week during the summer to bring the fun and fundamentals of baseball and softball across Twins Territory, which overlaps with the areas served by Great River Energy’s 26 member-owner cooperatives — six of which will host an event in their communities:

- Lake Country Power: Friday, May 30, in Cohasset
- Dakota Electric Association: Saturday, June 21, in Farmington
- McLeod Cooperative Power: Friday, June 17, in Arlington
- Cooperative Light & Power: Wednesday, July 9, in Two Harbors
- Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative: Friday, July 11, in Jordan
- Agralite Electric Cooperative: Sunday, July 27, in Benson
As cooperative organizations, Great River Energy and its member-owners believe in powering more than just homes and businesses — but opportunity, growth and possibility as well, especially in the communities they serve. Providing a chance for youth to enjoy a fun day at their local field with guidance from clinicians associated with the Minnesota Twins is just one way that electric cooperatives show concern for community.
