College foundation presents cooperative with its Visionary Award

The Bismarck State College Foundation (BSCF) recently recognized Great River Energy with its “Visionary Award” for the cooperative’s contributions to the educational institution.

Great River Energy Director of North Dakota Affairs Rachel Retterath received the Visionary Award on behalf of the cooperative from Bismarck State College Interim President Dan Leingang and BSCF Board Vice President Russ Hanson.

The award was presented during the BSCF President’s Dinner where Kari Knudson, vice president of College Advancement as well as the foundation’s executive director, spoke to Great River Energy’s partnership with the college over the course of many years.

“Great River Energy has been a fantastic partner,” Knudson said. “Recently, Great River Energy began providing support for the college’s workforce initiatives and [the cooperative] has hired many BSC graduates to work at its facilities.”

It was noted that Great River Energy also donated equipment to the college over the years, including a power plant simulator.

BSCF assists Bismarck State College, the third-largest college in the state, and the advancement of public higher education by broadening the base of support and communication with private donors and public agencies.
