Todd-Wadena Electric Cooperative (TWEC) recently recognized the achievement of one of its most esteemed leaders as he reached 50 years of service to the cooperative’s board of directors.
Mike Thorson has played a pivotal role in guiding and shaping TWEC’s mission and vision since 1974, ensuring that the cooperative’s members benefit from reliable and affordable electricity. Thorson has also served as a director on Great River Energy’s board since 1976, several of those as board chair.
Thorson’s leadership has helped both TWEC and Great River Energy navigate the changing landscape of the electric utility industry, balancing innovation with the cooperative principles that remain central to both organizations.
“I work hard to keep up with the ever-changing energy industry where new technology is constantly being adopted and customer expectations continue to change,” Thorson said. “I try to balance my decisions on how to best keep TWEC competitive and reliable with a concern for the environment.”
