Great River Energy and Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative (MVEC) constructed a 115 kilovolt (kV)  transmission project  in Scott County, Minn. A new MVEC distribution substation would be located in the city of Savage. To provide power to the new MVEC distribution substation, Great River Energy would build approximately 0.3 mile of new overhead double circuit 115-kV transmission line.

The project is needed to provide MVEC with sufficient capacity in the system to back feed the Prior Lake Substation load during highway construction projects and contingencies in the system. The project is also needed to provide reliable service to growing electric loads in the Savage area.
