A recent recognition of Great River Energy’s employee wellness offerings placed the cooperative among the top in the country.
The Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) awarded the 2017 Gold Well Workplace Award to Great River Energy in May. The recognition has been given to approximately 1,000 companies that met the rigorous set of Well Workplace criteria used to determine some of America’s Healthiest Companies since the award’s inception in 1991.
Great River Energy earned the gold-level award for successfully initiating a comprehensive program that produces results. The organization was scored in the following benchmarking categories: capturing CEO support; creating cohesive wellness teams; collecting data to drive health efforts; crafting an operating plan; choosing appropriate interventions; creating a supportive environment; and consistently evaluating outcomes.
“Great River Energy prides itself on having a culture of heath,” said Jason Vollbrecht, leader of benefits at Great River Energy. “This award validates our commitment to employees and their overall well-being. We believe our robust wellness programs is a differentiator with others in our industry and helps us continue to recruit and retain the very best employees.”
With the award, Great River Energy earned the designation of a Well Workplace through 2019, placing the company on a distinguished list of wellness-conscious employers recognized for investing in their employee’s wellness.
“I have had the pleasure of watching the wellness initiatives at Great River Energy evolve over the last few years, and have been impressed with the amount of thought and energy the company puts into providing resources and benefits to help employees and their families live healthy lives,” said Ryan Picarella, CEO of WELCOA. “Great River Energy is a shining example of an organization that values the health and wellbeing of its employees and the communities they live in and serve.”
