Scholarships help future energy leaders

The energy industry has always been driven by smart people and new ideas. Scholarship programs funded and organized by Great River Energy are designed to provide training and education for the next generation to lead electric cooperatives.

Great River Energy recently awarded dozens of scholarships to students attending high schools in North Dakota and Minnesota who will be pursuing a four-year or vocational-technical degree.

Cooperatives like Great River Energy are guided by seven principles, including “concern for community.” This principle states that cooperatives invest in the overall well-being of the communities they serve in ways that go well beyond their business. Providing scholarships are an important part of that.

“Great River Energy commends the applicants on their academic achievements, as well as their commitment to community, work and volunteerism,” said Anne Hansen, communication specialist at Great River Energy.
