Tyrone 69-kV transmission project

Great River Energy proposes to build and operate approximately 4 miles of new 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line to provide electric service to Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative’s new Tyrone Substation. The new substation and transmission line are needed to serve the existing and growing electric demand in the area. This project is not part of the CapX2020 projects.

Public meetings

The Le Sueur County Board met at 9 a.m. on July 28 and approved a Conditional Use Permit.

Representatives of Great River Energy and Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative held an open house meeting on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at the Le Sueur-Henderson High School, Le Sueur, Minn., to provide information about the proposed project and hear feedback. This was the second open house for this project.

Permitting/Environmental Approvals

The Le Sueur County Board met at 9 a.m. on July 28 and approved a Conditional Use Permit.

Previously

The Le Sueur County Planning and Zoning Commission held a continuation of the June 11 public meeting on the project Tuesday, July 7. The Planning and Zoning Commission approved recommending the project to the County Board.

On June 11, a hearing was held to review the conditional use permit application.

Great River Energy submitted a conditional use permit application May 4.
