Quarry 115-kV transmission project

Great River Energy, wholesale power provider to Stearns Electric Association, constructed a new overhead 115 kilovolt (kV) transmission line in Stearns County. This project strengthened the area’s electric transmission system, improved reliability and guarded against overloading and voltage collapse in the Greater St. Cloud area.

Permits: All local permits have been approved for the route. Conditional Use Permit approved from Stearns County, St. Joseph Township and the City of St. Joseph Great River Energy will seek DNR and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permits for water crossing and wetland concerns.
