Ortman Substation and transmission line

Project was completed August 2015.

(The Ortman Substation was formerly referred to as the Effie Substation.) To improve the reliability of electric service in northern Itasca County, which is now served by a single source of electric power, Great River Energy proposes to build a new 230/69-kV transmission substation (to be named the Ortman Substation) and build a new 20-mile 69-kV transmission line from the new Ortman Substation to the existing 69-kV transmission line just west of the Bigfork Substation.

Public Meetings

Representatives of Great River Energy and North Itasca Electric Cooperative held an open house meeting on Mon., Dec. 5, 2011, at the North Itasca Electric Cooperative office in Bigfork to provide information about the proposed project and hear feedback.
