Great River Energy has named Priti Patel as the company’s new vice president and chief transmission officer.
Patel will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction in the planning, construction, operations and maintenance of Great River Energy’s transmission assets.
“Great River Energy has been working with Ms. Patel for years. Her knowledge of the transmission business runs deep, and we know she will bring significant value to Great River Energy and its members,” said Great River Energy’s President and Chief Executive Officer David Saggau.
Patel has more than 20 years of electric utility industry experience. She began her career as an attorney at the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office and in a private law practice. Most recently, she was regional executive to the North Region and
executive director for transmission system planning and competitive transmission for the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO). Prior to her role at MISO, Patel served roles in general counsel, transmission development and corporate strategy and planning at Xcel Energy. She served as the organization’s lead counsel and co-executive director for the CapX2020 transmission expansion initiative.
Patel began her new position on May 31. She joined Great River Energy’s senior staff and reports to President and CEO David Saggau.
