They bring power to cooperative communities. They set out in the dead of night and the cold of winter to restore power. They climb poles, work from bucket trucks, work on energized lines and perform dangerous tasks safely. On April 10, cooperatives said thanks to linemen.
Great River Energy has 34 linemen that help maintain more the 5,200 miles of transmission power lines in Minnesota and North Dakota.
The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association has dedicated the second Monday in April as a time to thank and recognize linemen and the important work they do in the community.
