Our Maple Grove Building

Our new headquarters facility is one of the most energy-efficient and sustainable buildings in the country. It is part of our promise to practice, as well as promote, energy conservation in Minnesota. It’s a direct result of our status as a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative - which leaves us well-positioned to respond to the future needs of both our customer-owners and the community.

Our new building is a showcase of the latest in energy efficiency and sustainable features. Our corporate headquarters provides an excellent learning opportunity for anyone interested in energy efficiency and conservation. It showcases and demonstrates the latest energy-efficient products and environmentally friendly construction techniques.

Building Features

Of course it has fluorescent and LED lighting throughout. But it also features (among other things) rooftop solar photovoltaic panels, its own wind turbine, a state-of-the-art geothermal heating and cooling system and multiple atriums to let us harvest maximum daylight. We’ll even capture rainwater to use for flushing toilets and irrigation.

Energy Savings

Our building will reduce energy consumption by 40 to 50 percent and decrease water usage by 90 percent, compared to traditional office building campuses. It will produce enough renewable energy on site to supply up to 15 percent of the building’s own energy needs.

LEED Certification

We are applying for LEED Platinum certification status. The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building rating system attempts to define greenness according to a standard measurement. Platinum is the highest level possible. Only a handful of new buildings in the world currently have Platinum status. We want to be the next to achieve it.

To schedule a tour of our Maple Grove headquarters facility please call 763-445-6103 or email MG tours. Tours are offered to individuals age 15 and older Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Due to the remarkable interest in our facility, walk-in tours are not available.
